2. What this site is
That Guy of 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom operates this website. The Pest Guy is an information website about pests in homes. It publishes articles and answers written in good faith to help you understand what is happening in your own property. It is not a trading pest-control, inspection or treatment service, and nothing on this site is an offer to carry out work or an inspection.
3. Information, not advice
The content here is general information, not professional advice for your specific situation, and it is neither legal advice nor a species identification. It is written without having seen your property, and the right response depends on things a website cannot check: what the species actually is, where it is getting in, and what else is living in the building. Where you are not certain what you have, get an independent inspection from someone with no interest in selling you a treatment contract.
Two things make this subject different from most home-repair reading, and you are responsible for both. Some species are protected by law, including their roosts and nests, and disturbing or killing one can be a criminal offence however much of a nuisance it is. Some pesticides and rodenticides may only be bought or applied by certified professional users. A pesticide must always be used exactly as its approved label allows; using one in a way the label does not permit is an offence in its own right. Check what applies to your situation and comply with it.
